Senior Backend Engineer

Mitosis Games is a New York and Austin based game startup focused on developing quality mobile games in a variety of genres. As a well-funded startup in the initial stages of development, this is an excellent opportunity to jump in at the ground level and provide leadership in this arena. As we are in the early stages, we require a motivated, disciplined and self-directed individual who is comfortable designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend services. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work closely with the Unity-based client architect to design robust systems to support a multi-sku portfolio. New York or Austin locations are preferable, but we will also consider remote work with the right individual.

Responsibilities
  • Developing high-performance server logic in a distributed fashion capable of scaling to millions of users

  • Working with the client architect to assess design needs and spec out APIs

  • Implement robust, fault-tolerant, extensible systems that are reliable and secure

  • Provide technical leadership in the backend arena, including infrastructure, a plan for growth, and supplying creative solutions

  • Providing support services for logic in games in areas that need to be server-authoritative

Requirements and experience
  • Ability to architect distributed scalable databases, backend services, and caching strategies from scratch

  • Strong knowledge of Java and/or C#/C++

  • Knowledgeable in issues regarding authentication and security

  • Experience with services such as Amazon EC2 and VPC

  • Experience in developing HTTP and RESTFul services

  • Experience with deploying, managing and scaling live ops applications

  • Ability to estimate work effort, establish development timelines, and identify/mitigate risks

  • Knowledge of estimating loads and strategies to improve reliability, availability and scalability

  • Excellent analytical, design, and problem solving skills

  • Experience in mobile games is a great bonus but not required

 

Senior Full Stack Engineer

Mitosis Games is a New York and Austin based game startup focused on developing quality mobile games in a variety of genres. As a well-funded startup in the initial stages of development, this is an excellent opportunity to jump in at the ground level for an individual that is passionate about mobile games. As we are in the early stages, we require a motivated, disciplined and self-directed individual who is comfortable designing, implementing, and maintaining full-stack services as well as client-side features using Unity. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will work closely with both the backend and client team to design robust systems to support a multi-sku portfolio. New York or Austin locations are preferable, but we will also consider remote work with the right individual.

Responsibilities
  • Developing backend services and features in Unity which require full stack capabilities

  • Should be equally comfortable developing backend, client-only, or full-stack features

  • Working with the backend and client leads to assess design needs and spec out APIs

  • Implement robust, fault-tolerant, extensible systems that are reliable and secure

  • Providing support services for logic in games in areas that need to be server-authoritative

  • Integrating with third party services such as Facebook, Unity Payments, etc.

Requirements and experience
  • Strong knowledge of C#/Unity/Java

  • Experience in developing HTTP and RESTFul services

  • Ability to architect distributed scalable full stack services

  • Knowledgeable in issues regarding authentication and security

  • Experience with deploying, managing and scaling live ops applications

  • Ability to estimate work effort, establish development timelines, and identify/mitigate risks
